IndustriAll holds 2020 Africa Industrialisation Day (AID)

Affiliates of IndustriAll Global Union under the Nigeria Council on Thursday gathered to deliberate on issues as it concerns the effects of COVID-19 Pandemic and its effects on the unions and the quest for Africa industrialation. The event with its theme as “Covid-19: Issues, Challenges & Trade Union Response” were held at the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) headquarter in Lagos.
Different speakers at the occasion spoke on the adverse effects of the pandemic on their respective affiliates and the measures adopted to mitigate its effects. 

The General Secretary of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), Comrade Lumumba Okugbawa, who delivered the lead paper, thanked the organizers of the event and also brought good tidings from the Members and Staff of the Association. He said that the pandemic affected, particularly the Association Members’ jobs and enumeration. Job Security came under serious threat, while some lost their jobs, others got their enumeration slashed to over 50%. He advised affiliates to take the right actions to make us stronger even during this challenging time. Decisive steps according to him should be taken by engaging with Management and members in order to find a middle ground, to save Members' jobs and livelihood.   

The event was graced by other sister affiliates of the Global Union, Nigeria Council.
