The adoption of digital solution platforms will address challenges associated with supply of petroleum products in the country, the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has said.

The oil workers also said adequate support for strategic reserves and forestalling scarcity, resulting from supply-demand gaps would address hiccups in products’ supply.

The President of PENGASSAN, Ndukaku Ohaeri, stated this when the association visited the Executive Secretary of Petroleum Equalisation Fund (PEF).

He said the move would also create a seamless operation for stakeholders in the supply chain of petroleum products, but decried non-uniformity of prices across the country, saying PEF is failing in its duty.

To achieve an even pricing system, the association advocated the straightening of the riverine and mountainous areas, and a special equalisation programme mechanism that will assure stability of prices.

Ohaeri said that riverine communities that are majorly oil and gas bearing locations pay double for all the categories of available petroleum products, resulting most times to agitations and other forms of social conflicts.

Noting that PEF’s arrangement is contributing immensely to the socio-economic development of the nation, the union declared that it does not support the call for the scrapping of the Fund.

The workers sought for improved partnership and cooperation between PEF and other agencies of government for seamless service delivery.
